This was my first attempt at making fondant (the marshmallow variety). And while I'm not ready to work at Charm City Cakes, I think I did a passable job. After I snapped this photo, I put dabs of butter cream frosting in the green and red circles, and then stuck the candles in there (a 5 for Kayla, an 8 for Will).
It is extremely difficult to take a good picture of your own eye. I know. It took several tries to get one decent picture (this one). I may experiment with this through the year. Or maybe not. I don't need to make myself go blind. But I do like the reflection...
I decided I wanted to take a picture from the same spot each month, and what better place than my bedroom window. I'm not sure why the ladder and AC unit are still out there. Those will hopefully be gone by next month.
I have an old typewriter--it came from my dad, and I think it came from his dad, but I'm not sure. I love it. Here you can see Qwerty, and the fact there there is no number 1. No, it wasn't broken, it was never included. Poor one.
Kiana (my sister's dog) is visiting us this week. She loves to go outside, as long as she has the option to come in when she wants. For some reason, she won't look at the camera.
I'm not much for angelic artwork--it often feels so insufficient. But I love this little guy, perching up on the shelf (not my shoulder, but hey!). It's nice to know he's up there.
This is taken through a kaleidoscope--a real one, made out of wood and glass. It's pretty cool. Kaleidoscope means beautiful shape in Greek (I think it was Greek...).
I have to admit, I love living somewhere where you can see a view like this in your side mirror. And yes, there's snow all over the road, and everywhere.
It was hard to pick today--mostly because I had pictures that were similar to pictures I've already posted this year. I need to get out more--or rather, I need to be able to take the pictures I want to take. Like the BMW that was stranded in the snow this morning. Or the amazing bright clouds hovering over the city tonight--with a black sky all around. But sometimes you just can't get the shot you want. So here's some cool carving in the meantime.
Okay, so you now know I have a foot fetish. I also have a thing for stairways. This one is fun, except when I only have socks on. That's when I'm afraid, very afraid.
These little toes belong to Kayla Joy. I joined Shelly, Betsy and kids for lunch at Chick-Fil-A today, and had to get Kay and Will out of the play area. My camera seems to not like to focus sometimes, or I would have had another shot. It might end up as a Saturday Snapshot over on my Sojourns blog.
This is the inside of the light fixture above my favorite booth at Panera. I like the reflection, and how the light is so bright, everything else is black...
I have a movie collection. Last night, I rearranged it a bit. The ten seasons of SG-1, four seasons of SGA and the Stargate movie were taking up a bit too much space, so they got moved into the closet. There are others in the cardboard type box that aren't shown here.
And yes, my collection is alphabetized. I'm a nerd, and I know it.
A house down the street from me puts up a Nativityscene every Christmas. They have a star up in the tree. As I drove home tonight, I was struck by the light on the branches. So I got home, grabbed my camera, and walked back to the trees.
So last year, my dear friend Dianna, did Project365--a challenge to take a picture every day. She kept bugging me to do it with her. Being me, I couldn't stand to start in the middle of the year. But since we are in a new year, I'm taking the challenge. I'll be posting a picture here every day. I hope you enjoy this photo journey as we flutterby through my life.
